Turnbull Ruins/Old Fort Park
Located in New Smyrna Beach, the Turnbull Ruins features coquina shell wall ruins built by European immigrants who migrated with Turnbull from Greece, Italy and other European colonies. The wall was created to protect them from the waters of the Indian River along with a system of canals to the right of the coquina wall ruins – now known as Canal Street, the town’s main shopping destination. You can still see the structure’s interesting design. The site also has a nice trail that is shaded by tall old trees, making it ideal for walking and other outdoor recreation. The Turnbull Ruins is home to the annual Art Fiesta which is held every February.
